This past Friday was the opening night for The Jabbawockeez very first showcase, MUS.I.C.  They finally got what they’ve all been working for, to perform live in Vegas!!!  It was only a matter of time until these guys would reach their dream.  From winning the very first Americas Best Dance Crew, to touring world wide, appearing in music videos, movies and commercials… The Jabbawockeez have definitely earned their spot in Las Vegas!!!  

It was early Friday morning when myself and Prince drove down to Vegas.  Prince was asked to help work with the Street Team Promo for the show, alongside LeeJay (manager of the BeatFreaks)  The whole day, myself and Prince worked with the Street Team and had them promote the show all dressed up as the Jbwkz…

I was supposed to cut the rest of the crew up after rehearsals but since it was the opening night, it was a busy and stressful night for the crew…Chris and Phil came through the shop along with Ben from Super Cr3w to get faded on Wednesday evening on their way to Vegas.  So we had to reschedule for Saturday early morning to cut up the rest of the crew…

“After the show, its the after party”…we all headed over to Studio 54 at the MGM to celebrate a great opening show!!! It was Chris’ birthday as well so it was a pretty big celebration…bottles poppin n everything!!! It was a great night indeed!

I would like to finally introduce you all to, DA SPOT BARBERSHOP! Now I know I’ve been living down here in Cali for about 3 months now, and as most of you already know DA SPOT is where i’ve been working at…before I even touched down to Cali, I was online hittin’ up several shops to see if one of them could take me in…There were 3 shops that replied back to me and DA SPOT was more into having me work there than the other 2 shops…

Anyway, from February till this day, workin at the shop has made me feel like I was at home…I’ve had days where I’d be homesick, but once I stepped foot into the shop and started cuttin’ it up, I felt right at home!  The staff I work with are a great group of people that are very supportive and hardworking! They too make me feel at home as well as being apart of the team since day 1…

The shop is located in Pomona, which is a small city out in the suburbs…from what I was told, our location is in the ghetto! However, I don’t see the neighborhood looking ghetto at all.  My first week was very overwhelming because back in Toronto, I had a very diverse group of clients who I would see every week…here the majority of clients are Mexican! (no offense) It would help a lot if I knew how to speak Spanish lol…i’m learning as the days go by

Let me introduce to you all the Staff of the shop…

EDWARD/SHOP OWNER

Edward just turned 22yrs old, and he’s owned DA SPOT for about a year now…thanks to him, I was given a shop to work at and make a name for myself…this dude is a very skilled barber and business man! Just getting to know him and knowing what he’s been through to get to where he’s at is very inspiring…like I always say, “do what you love to do, and make the best of it”

VERO

Next we have, Vero…when I first met Vero, I thought that she was working at the shop as a hairdresser for only women…I was wrong! Vero is a talented barber who can cut, fade, style, you name it she does it all!  She’s probably got the most regulars that come into the shop on a weekly basis! Don’t under estimate her abilities lol…Vero gets down with the clippers!!!

TONY DA BARBER

Last, we got my man Tony Da Barber…this is the dude that got me to work at DA SPOT!…I probably hit this fool up on myspace several times to make sure that he wasn’t bullshitin me on allowing me to work there ahahahah…Tony is one of many barbers I know that could really cut…this dude is crazy with the clippers and designs as well…he could get you in the chair and out with a fresh fade in 10min lol…me and Tony have been talking about some things for the near future so STAY TUNED!!! I know its been a good long while since I last posted something…sorry i’ve been soo busy with work that i haven’t had the time to blog anything…there has been so much going on, so much to blog about, i just don’t know how to put it all together ahahaha…i will try my best to post a few things tonight after work!

BIG THINGS ON THE COME UP!!! STAY TUNED!!!

So this past Thursday I got a call from the NewBoyz saying that they need a cut before they take off for Texas the next morning…i got outta the shop early to try to beat traffic and be in Burbank at their studio by 630pm…anyway i get to the studio on time, got my clippers all set up and checked out the place..pretty nice studio!!!

After cuttin’ up the boyz, they headed over to a photoshoot with photographer, Chris Kiker (www.chriskiker.com) the pictures below are from the shoot…Shoutouts to Tevin, BenJ, and Legacy and the whole NewBoyz crew…keep holdin’ it down!!!

From there, I had to head over to The Marriot in Burbank to cut up the Jabbawockeez before they fly out to Utah for a show this past weekend…They were at the Marriot rehearsing for the finale for ABDC…y’all gotta tune in to that cause their Routine is going to be bananas…so Big ups to the Jabbawockeez for still being one of the best dance crews out there!!!

…i say, do what you love and make the best out of it…you live once, only got 1 shot…make something happen!!! you never know what could happen unless you try…step outside that comfort zone and explore, do what you were born to do, and do it well…

LIFE: “where amazing happens”…

This past weekend, my brother Will and Julie came down to L.A for business and pleasure!  Julie was sent down here for work, and Will decided to come along to keep her company and to visit me LOL…It was pretty last minute so I didn’t really have anything planned out for us to do while they were down here, but we were able to check out a couple places out here in L.A. Kinda sucks that Julie had to work while me and Will went around everywhere… Don’t worry Julie, next time you come, it won’t be for work!

I took a few days off so I could show them around L.A and Hollywood…It was good seeing my brother Will again, before I moved out here, this dude and the other guys would be at my house pretty much every night just playing COD or 2K10 ahahahaha…I miss home at times, especially my family and the homies!!! Anyway, it was a good time for WIll and I to catch up on whats been goin on with our lives, since we’re just too busy with work and all…things are lookin good on both ends!!!

Julie, it was great to finally meet you…I’ve heard a lot about you, and now I know the reason why this dude is soo happy! ahahaa…It was good kickin’ it with you and getting to know you more…like i said, too bad you had to work while me and Will went everywhere…when y’all come back i’ll have a whole itinerary for you guys!  Anyway, thanks again for letting stay with y’all at the hotel and for all the lunch and dinner meals …”CLEAN HOUSE“… Let em know whose the Janitor up in this BIIAAATCHHH LMAO…

I had a great time the past few days…hope to see you both sooon!!!

This past Saturday, I was asked to feature at Active in Brea…My homie Eric aka Episode, is an employee over at Active, and he was nice enough to set up this event with myself alongside, Dino Mayorga, who does artwork on shoes!  I wasn’t really sure as to how this event would turnout, but it actually went very well!  I cut more people than expected and I made some new clients as well…Thanks for the homies who came thru to support the event…(JayP, Indo, and Brian) I didn’t get tipped as much but I did get hooked up with some FREE gear from Active!!!

So it’s Sunday evening, i’m on my way home from a Bbq and I get a call from Maria (Warner Bros.)  She asks me what i’m doing Monday morning…I said, “nothing why what’s up”…she asks if I would be down to cut up the Jabbawockeez for their MTV Crib shoot in the morning…and so i agreed on doing it!  My ass had to be downtown L.A at 7am LOL…if you been down here in L.A you already know what the freeways are like in the early morning…DEATH!!! LOL Anyway, I got to the studio for 7am and first up was Chris and Phill…these dudes are madd cool very down to earth and humble!!! Then the rest of the crew showed up as well as MTV…They wanted me to stick around to cut while they film, but I had to be onset for The NewBoyz at a certain time…that would’ve been pretty cool if I was on the episode ahahaha!!!  All in all I had a great time cuttin’ and getting to know that guys!  Big Shoutout to the Jabbawockeez!!! Earlier this week, Maria was able to hook me up with a gig with The NewBoyz…I was put on to cut BenJ and Legacy from the NewBoyz for their album cover photoshoot…So my Monday morning was pretty busy!!! Jabbawockeez for 7am, didn’t get out till about 11ish, then had to head over to Melrose for the NewBoyz… it was a great experience and I was able to get to know the guys on a personal level…imma be seeing them regularly now that i’m down here and they got my contact…A BIG THANK YOU goes out to Maria (Warner Bros) for hooking me up with these gigs!!!
